Light bulbs using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), paired with microcontrollers that run software-defined Visible Light Communication (VLC) protocols, combine illumination and communication. Such smart light sources can communicate with each other and with other VLC-enabled devices, such as smartphones and toys. This demo abstract summarizes the employed hardware and software building blocks and describes two demos that integrate the VLC technology to form light bulb and LED-to-LED networks.
