A photovoltaic power generation (PV) with a battery system is proposed to stabilize output power fluctuation from PV which depends on the whether condition for a power grid friendly. We propose a novel method for capacity designing of each device in the system. The optimum capacity of each device is estimated by the method which needs an annual amount of solar radiation data. A grid dependency (GD) in PV/battery system on the grid was calculated using the past meteorological data over a period of twenty-two years in 8 locations throughout Japan. The GD was found to be possibly estimated based on the annual total solar radiation without taking the solar irradiation waveform as well as the location into consideration. Therefore, a simple estimation of GD based on the annual total solar, the capacity of PV, and battery was developed. By comparison with a conventional capacity designing method using time series of weather data, the proposed method shows that the reasonable optimal configuration can be achieved with relatively high accuracy in a much simpler way.
