摘要

A novel nano-structured organic solar cell architecture is designed and evaluated. Using simulations to observe the effects of nano-scale light scattering, it was observed that the nanostructure has a dual functionality - firstly, it helps in increasing the average generation rate in the active volume significantly and secondly, it localizes the exciton generation to a region in the vicinity of a charge-collection interface. Together these effects contribute to improved charge transport behavior resulting in higher photocurrents and reduced parasitic effects compared to the flat device architecture.
