摘要

In this paper a computational uid dynamic (CFD) model of the ca-thodic arc jet is developed. The CFD simulation is based on an incom-pressible solver modied with an external body force representing theion-neutral momentum transfer in the region of plasma-gas interaction.The ow properties { pressure and velocity are qualitatively analyzed indierent periods of simulation time. The CFD jet model of the CAJ pre-dicts the experimentally measured pressure front velocity prole. Thecompatibility of the pressure front velocity prole with the Taylor-Sedovblast model was also validated. This simplied empirical model can beused to simulate the CAJ even without modeling the plasma explicitly,greatly reducing the computation requirements.
