Influence of surface treatment on ageing resistance of structural adhesive CFRP joints

It is possible to generate high strength adhesive bonds with a cohesive fracture pattern for both a mechanical and a physical surface treatment. Compared to the APPJ treatment the VB treatment creates surfaces with low polarity. Nevertheless it is possible to generate high bond strength with this mechanical surface treatment. It will be interesting to observe the influence of the different surface preparations on the ageing-resistance.
