Results of the application of Dynelmod for the European electricity sector until 2050:1. With high decarbonization of the electricity sector, between 250 and 400 GW short term storage need until 2050.2. Mostly battery based storage, almost no new pumped storage capacities, almost no new storage in Switzerland and Austria.3. Highest storage investment in UK, DE, ES, FR.4. Investments cost sensitivity is lower than expected, little regional variation.5. Regional variation mostly influenced by interconnection cost.6. Slightly more generation from wind powered capacities than solar PV (about 60-40).7. Fluctuation of demand is only a small driver of storage need, it is mostly driven by the fluctuation of renewable infeed.8. Nuclear power is not built by the model.
