This paper studies the nonlinear robust control problem for air-breathing hypersonic vehicles (AHVs) with flexible dynamics and uncertainties, which focuses on the study of rigid-flexible couplings (RFCs). The flexible effects generated by the RFCs are considered as a kind of unknown disturbance. These effects are estimated by a robust coupling observer (RCO). Then a novel nonlinear controller is presented, which includes a RCO-based compensator and a nonlinear H∞ controller. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the methodology.
