Semi-submersible drilling platform can be divided into upper hullmodule and two lower hull modules consisted of pontoon and column.The three modules are grouped in the dock after completingconstruction. Because of the limits of quay water depth and highergravity center of light lower hull, high risk is existed in the processes oftug towing and docking. Therefore, Towing Stability and MotionResponse for Lower Hull of Semi-submersible Drilling Platform wereresearched. And combined with actual operation sea state, the towingresistance was calculated in order to ensure the safety and reliability ofthe whole towing process.
