Anaerobic digestion (AD) converts organic substances into a methane rich gas and is well developed technology for the treatment of organic fraction of various waste materials. However, the process often shows inhibition problems whi ch cause low performance on biogas production due to large quantity requirement of microbial biomass, long retention time, and accumulation of volatile fatty acids within the AD reactor.
