Hydrogen Quality Assurance — From hydrogen sampling to analysis

Hydrogen as an alternative fuel for vehicles is ready for commercial deployment around the world and is driven by different initiatives such as for example the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP, [1]) or the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP, [2]). To support this deployment, hydrogen needs to meet normative specifications in order to assure uniformity of the hydrogen product and ensure fuel cell performance over time. Traceable and comparable measurements of the quality of hydrogen fuel at point of use (filling stations) are essential to ensure the fuel meets requirements specified in the international ISO standard 14687-2 called "Proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications for road vehicles".
