The adoption of fuel cell vehicles in the market depends on a variety of economic factors ranging from vehicle price, cost of hydrogen at the pump, cost of station infrastructure, pipeline and delivery costs, and so on. However, these costs do not capture the perception of consumers about the vehicle technology, which can vary based on their annual driving miles, risk tolerance towards new technologies, and the hydrogen infrastructure availability. For example, limited availability of hydrogen fueling infrastructure will decrease the likelihood of the people in the region to buy FCVs, even if the vehicle price is competitive with other vehicle alternatives. These non-monetary factors, therefore, cannot be ignored while considering consumer adoption of alternative fueled vehicles in the future.
