This paper presents a complete design of model reference adaptive control (MRAC) for a Wind Turbine-Driven doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based on vector-oriented control. First, the system modeling is presented including the modeling of the grid side converter (GSC) and the DFIG; second, a design of MRAC for the current control loops of both GSC and the rotor side converter (RSC) is presented; finally, the outer control loops, the speed and the DC-link voltage loops, are designed using PI controller. Several tests have been done to evaluate the performance of using MRAC in this system. First of all, the complete system is simulated using Matlab/Simulink and the system is tested under different conditions to show the performance of the designed MRAC. Finally, an experimental test on the grid side converter is implemented to verify the simulation results of using MRAC.
