Small Permanent Magnet Vernier machines in mass production

摘要

This paper exhibits new developments in Permanent Magnet (PM) Vernier Motors (PMVM), particularly concerning the miniaturization of current technologies to brushless motors with diameter below 50mm. State of the art, mass production technical challenges linked to robotics or automotive field will be listed. Results of two prototypes – one intermediate design with outer diameter of 85mm and the final one of 25mm – will be shown, particularly by presenting static torque curve versus current (and the effect of magnetic saturation on this curve) and iron losses.
