The direct stroke of a lightning in the power lines is a major cause of failure of the linear isolation and the disruption of the normal operation of electrical grids. In the power lines for high voltages prevail the reverse discharges - from atmospheric overvoltages, struck on the towers or on the ground wire near the towers. In order to be taken the necessary precautions, researches should be made, data should be collected and methods to protect the equipment in substations need to be searched for. In this report are given results of a model study of the effect of atmospheric overvoltages by lightning strike on a tower, which generates reverse discharges from the tower to the power lines.
