Aspect ratio of switchgrass CNC was higher than that of cotton CNC, indicating a stronger reinforcing property in nanocomposites. Mechanical properties of the CNC films decreased when increasing the relative humidity. Mechanical properties of CNC fdms increased when temperature was below 50°C, and slightly decreased above 50°C. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) tests found the decomposition temperature for switchgrass CNC films started at approximately 150°C. Hydroxyl groups, which form the hydrogen bond on the CNC surface, are a possible explanation for the changes in mechanical properties of CNC films under different conditions of humidity and temperature.
