This paper presents the development of a new pluggable combined low-frequency antenna, involving three frequencies of 12.5MHz, 25 MHz, and 50MHz, aiming to solve the current problems of the small detection range and low precision in mine disaster sources detection in China. Compared with many existing antennas, the novel designed plate-type structure antenna can enhance the directivity and reduce the standing wave interference. Mine detection experiments were carried out and the results show that the novel antenna can effectively detect the location and depth of geological disaster sources with a depth greater than 30 m and a diameter greater than 3m, the maximum detection depth can be up to 80m, which breaks the current detection depth limitat of 30m.
