Effect of input beam radius of curvature on the power coupling efficiencies of different modes excited in a multimode fiber (MMF) for high speed applications are investigated for two axial launching methods. As compared to the popular center launching (CL) method, mode field diameter matched center launching (MFDM-CL) is less affected by curved wavefronts.
