Based on the triaxial tests on a new triaxial apparatus under realistic confining pressure and different amplitudes of dynamic stress, the residual strain of silty clay is studied which considered the effects of different dynamic stress. Results show that the residual strain of silty clay increases with increasing cycles of loading. The developing model of residual strain shows that it increases dramatically in the initial loading cycles and follows by slow increase of residual strain with time. When the dynamic stress exceeds 170kPa, the residual strain starts to increase dramatically till failure. The dynamic failure stress threshold of this kind of silty clay is given in this paper. The work will make a contribution to properly reveal the residual strain of silty clay under different dynamic stress and provide a useful guidance for the engineering application.
