The report presents the results of numerical researches of the effectiveness of commercially produced devices can be used to protect high voltage cables with XLPE insulation from the effects of high-frequency (HF) overvoltages. This is a problem because the used now traditional protective devices as nonlinear surge arresters (SA) is not effective in reducing the slope of lightning impulses incoming from the overhead transmission line (OTL). Is known, the XLPE insulation system is very sensitive to HF overvoltages. To suppress high-frequency overvoltages in report have been proposed commercially produced devices: power reactor (PR), coupling capacitor (CC), used for the organization HF communication by wires of OTL, and their combination. Note that these devices are now commercially produced and do not require special fabrication.
