The socio economic impact caused by landslides has motivated investments in risk areas mapping, focusing in mechanic’s resistance, through geotechnical mapping techniques that could orient the requirement of local stability analysis. The aim of this paper is to compare the method applied in Ituporanga’s Town on mapping of risk areas of landslides, with calculus realized to a specific case. Many different computational tools were used, among which are compared, for the same slide surface, the security factor through manual calculus, and using the software’s Macstars (Maccaferri) and Slide (RocScience), all of the cases were analyzed by Bishop Simplified method. It is concluded that the method of geotechnical mapping developed by the research group on natural disasters of Federal University of Santa Catarina, has valued well the risk areas mapping, especially by the consideration of physical and mechanical tests data in each geotechnical unit. The method of determination of risk areas, does not replaces, but indicates, apply stability calculation algorithms on local analysis, using the test results to modeling and decision-making.
