Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a modern medical imaging technique, which plays a particularly important role in ophthalmic diagnostics. The key features of OCT are its non-invasiveness, high probing depth in biological tissue, high, micron-level resolution and its ability to provide real-time imaging. 2D or 3D imaging via conventional OCT methods requires the use of mechanical scanning that, in turn, represents an important limiting factor for the speed of image acquisition. In this article, an improved method for OCT imaging using a planar broadband light beam is presented. The proposed method allows a significant increase of the image acquisition speed compared to the state of the art. Ambiguity function of the measurement system is derived and statistical analysis of image speckle structure is performed.
