FPGA based validation technique for Advanced Driver Assistance System

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have gained increasing attention in automotive electronics industry. Providing efficient and reliable systems requires considerable effort in the development and validation of ADAS. To ease the process of validation of ADAS in an automotive microcontroller, a new technique using FPGA has been presented. FPGA is used in the validation setup to provide high speed Low-voltage Differential Signals (LVDS) stimulus to ADAS in place of physical radar antennas. FPGA mimics the functionality of multiple radar chips to generate high speed LVDS inputs to ADAS, with a wide controllability of parameters, which are processed by the microcontroller for object detection and decision making. This technique is being used in the Post Silicon Validation of ADAS in the next generation of automotive microcontrollers in 40 nm technology.
