In the current 4G technology, the primary requirement is high data rate. This can be achieved easily by using MIMO antenna system. In MIMO, when a number of antennas are placed in the small area, then mutual coupling comes into the picture. The current research focuses on mitigating mutual coupling in MIMO (Multi Input and Multi Output) antenna systems. MIMO antenna with enhanced isolation is proposed. In this work, Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is used to reduce mutual coupling. The antenna operates at 3.2 and 5.2 GHz. Mutual coupling at 3.2 GHz is -36.42 dB and at 5.2 GHz is -30.26 dB. It is very much suitable for both WiMAX and WLAN applications.
