A new normal of Content Sharing Networks

摘要

As a kind of sharing platform for files, information and resources, Content Sharing Networks (CSNs) are going through a stage of rapid development and wide application, especially for those of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) mode. The amount of network nodes and proportion of Internet traffic have seen the top speed and peak time. However, we found a miniaturization trend of CSNs according to our continuous measurement on Kad lasting for three years and further analyses on the related studies in the last decade. It presents that CSNs are shrinking gradually to a special and stable size of hundreds of thousands of simultaneous online nodes with higher active degrees and longer online time, which is called a new normal in this paper.
