The ultimate bearing capacity of composite laminated square tube bolt connector was studied in both experimental and simulating approaches. A three-dimensional progressive damage finite element model simulating the failure process and mode of composite laminated square tube bolt connector was established in ABAQUS/Explicit. The error of ultimate load obtained from experiment and finite element calculation was less than 5%, and the joint underwent non-catastrophic local extrusion failure under tensile load. The influence of the angle of laying layer on the ultimate bearing capacity was analyzed using the validated numerical model.
