IP in the Broadcast Plant: Practical Building Blocks

What are the practical issues that need to beaddressed for production video over IP inside the broadcastplant? First, do the COTS Ethernet switches provide theQoS and performance that is required? The results ofextensive testing of packet loss, packet delay variance, andlatency under static and dynamic scenarios will bepresented. Second, can software systems effectively processnetworked video? A real world example of software videoprocessing running on COTS PC servers will be discussed.Finally, a flexible RTP architecture for the networked mediabroadcast plant is presented.
