Design of efficient lighting systems for petroleum installations

The petroleum industry includes the processes of exploration, extraction, refining and transportation. In the areas mentioned above there must be an efficient lighting that provides the minimum lighting levels in the work plane, according with the standards applicable to petroleum facilities, this is accomplished by setting the specifications, methods and technical guidelines which must meet the petroleum installations requirements in the efficient use of electricity in lighting systems, in order to provide adequate security conditions for people and facilities, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of facilities; as well as rationalizing the use of electricity, considering efficient lighting technologies. In this article the basis, methods and technical guidelines that must have lighting systems for oil installations are presented.
