Numerical and Experimental Assessment of a Kort Nozzle Production Process

In this paper, a new production process for Kort nozzles is assessed.Instead of building up the Kort nozzle out of many small curvedplates, the desired process forms the Kort nozzle ring out of one pipe.After explaining the new process, dedicated tensile tests are carriedout to obtain a first experimental assessment of the suitability of thechromium steel to be used. Then, finite element analyses areperformed to numerically assess the process and give indications forimprovement.
