Evaluation of oocyte has become one of the most important issues for many biomedical applications. We developed measurement system of oxygen consumption rate of individual oocyte using fluorescence oxygen sensor array having stripe-shape. The fluorescence sensor was composed of polyethylene glycol diacrylate and Tris (2,2′-bipyridyl) dichloro ruthenium (II) hexahydrate. The sensor was patterned to stripe-shape in the microchannel mde of polydimethylsiloxane. Oxygen concentration around the oocyte was distributed according to spherical diffusion theory because of similar oxygen permeability of polydimethylsiloxane and that of culture medium. This sensor detects two-dimensional distribution of oxygen consumption by image processig. Oxygen consumption ratio of the target oocyte is calculated by Fick's low. We demonstrated non-contact measurement of oxygen consumption ratio of single mouse oocyte.
