In recent years, traffic has become an increasingly serious problem. The improvement of traffic sign recognition is beneficial to promote traffic safety. This paper offers quantitative research on the influence factors of guide sign recognition and established an evaluation model based on ergonomics. Weights of different factors were obtained through a questionnaire survey and analytic hierarchy process. The results showed that the setting position of guide signs has a most significant influence on its recognition; occlusion degree, character size and number are also very important. The rationality and reliability of the evaluation model were verified by examples. Results of this study can help researchers better understand how factors affect the guide sign recognition and propose effective measures.
