Analysis of aircraft accidents requires modeling and simulation methods that are capable of accurately capturing complicated nonlinear flight dynamic behavior. This paper investigates a novel inverse simulation method that is applicable to aircraft accident reconstruction and analysis. Equations of motion and change of states for civil aircraft is established using hybrid system theory. This novel inverse simulation method based on a hybrid model predictive control is proposed to calculate the continuous control displacement and discrete states from flight data recorder information. Experiment results show that this inverse simulation method can be a useful mathematical and simulation tool for aircraft accident investigations.
