Present eco-driving speed guidance methods for cars are not completely suitable for buses and relatively independent running space of buses with bus-only lane provides feasibility for actual implementation of eco-driving dynamic speed guidance. Based on eco-driving knowledge and fuel consumption theory, an eco-driving dynamic speed guidance strategy for buses with bus-only lane is proposed. Calibration of driving behavior parameters is carried out to assure easy compliance of proposed strategy. A vehicle infrastructure integration system is simultaneously established to serve actual operation strategy. Both simulator and field experiments are conducted to validate proposed strategy. Results show that, compared with no speed guidance, proposed eco-driving strategy cuts down number of stops in signalized intersection significantly, reduces average fuel consumption by 32.52% and 19.11%, decreases average travel time by 8.16% and 10.28% respectively in simulator and field experiments.
