Nowadays, the power quality improvement in micro-grids becomes a challenging problem to be addressed. This is mainly due to the constant increase of nonlinear and reactive loads that can significantly affect the stable, reliable and economic operation of micro-grids. Accordingly, many research works attempt to solve power quality issues through the development of efficient control strategies for power quality conditioners. Recently, many research works have paid attention to Multi Function-Grid connected Converters (MF-GcCs) and focused on power quality enhancement with high cost effectiveness. The MF-GcCs are power converters used to interface Renewable Energy Resources (RERs) or some loads to the lines of electrical distribution in a micro-grid. They are controlled with advanced control strategies aimed to ensure two functions: 1) the main function of RERs (or loads) interfacing with the lines of electrical distribution in a micro-grid; 2) the ancillary function of power quality improvement. In this context, this paper proposes a coordinated control strategy aimed to share power quality improvement between many MF-GcCs. Particularly, this paper proposes a well-organized control strategy that schedules distorted and reactive powers compensation through two MF-GcCs. Simulation results carried out under Matlab-Simulink environment tool are presented and discussed in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
