Optical fibers are used in this era with the expectation of transmitting very high data rate at longer and longer distances, for this to be in practically implemented dispersion compensation techniques are used like that of pre, post and symmetric compensation. This paper focuses on the application of fibers at extended distances without using dispersion compensation techniques, the most vital part of this system is the implementation of MetroCor fiber which has enhanced features as compared to that of normal fibers. Appropriate fiber lengths has been considered along with optimized EDFA gain which produce results of better transmission of higher bit rates with minimum losses and high efficiency of the overall lightwave system. Performance characteristics which are considered are frequency and power of continuous wave laser, reference wavelength and dispersion slope of metrocor fiber with noise figure and gain of EDFA.
