摘要

Problems of power quality have gained greater significance in recent years. This has been caused by (ⅰ) the increase in the penetration of loads which can cause power quality difficulties and (ⅱ) the higher expectations and requirements of customers in respect of quality of supply. This paper briefly reviews the various standards which define the electromagnetic compatibility performance levels in relation to domestic appliance power supplies. In particular, the performance requirements with regard to a range of power quality problems, including harmonic levels, voltage dips, short interruptions, voltage variations, fast transients and surges are considered. The relevant performance tests are briefly described. The performance of a number of commonly available power supplies, when subjected to these tests, is then described.
