This paper provides insight into the design and analysis of the main piers and components that support the tiedarch main span of the proposed new bridge over Kentucky Lake. Discussion of conceptual foundation typesthrough the final seismic performance metrics of the substructure system is provided. An extensive design phasepile load test program was performed. All components were designed for Seismic Category D (New Madrid Fault)and vessel collision forces.
