The switching from Feed-in-tariffto selfconsumption schemes for PV support changes the economical approach for the residential PV producer. Whereas he was incited to install the biggest system to get the higher return, now his economical optimization depends of his electrical consumption and its consumption profile. Calculations with these assumptions show that there is a good return on investment but it lowers the optimum PV system size to 2-3 kWp. While the current schemes of selfconsumption may induce some externalities like purchase of surplus and distribution costs, further calculations shows that without grid injection which avoid these externalities, the residential PV is still profitable for the home owner, it can be a base for a new definition of grid parity. This self-sustainable economy changes the position of the prosumer from demand to offer and open new business models with the regular stake holders of electricity value chain.
