Airbus Military is developing a version of theC295 military aircraft with an Oil SpillDispersant (OSD) system to be used as anairborne platform capable of dissolving marineoil spills that cause high environmentalcontamination and economic losses. A sloshingmechanical model was developed to evaluatethe impact of the dispersant sloshing on theaircraft dynamics. Effects on aircraft stability,handling qualities and Pilot InducedOscillations (PIO) sensitivity characteristicswere assessed carrying out exhaustivesimulations analyses prior to the maiden flight.Sloshing model validation was supported byComputational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)simulations and a dedicated flight testcampaign.This paper is structured in line with theevolution of the OSD program, starting from thedevelopment of the sloshing mechanical modeland concluding with the flight test campaignresults
