A study was carried out to assess the impact of separate and combined application oforganic and inorganic fertilizers on yield, quality and field performance of carrot (Daucuscarota cv. `Frantis`). The field experiment was conducted at Al-Balqa` AppliedUniversity Research Station during the 2011 growing season. Fermented plant plus homeorganic solid waste-based compost `SWC` were used alone and in combination with ureaas sources of fertilizer treatments. Nine different proportions of fertilizer treatments wereused in the experiment which included 0, 30 and 50 t ha~(-1) of `SWC` combined with threerates of urea (0, 0.1 and 0.3 t ha~(-1)). Seeds of carrot were sown on raised beds in a sandyloam soil. The field experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design withthree replications. Yield and quality of carrot exhibited a significant response to anincrease in application of single and combined `SWC` and urea treatments. Applicationof 30 t ha~(-1) `SWC` + 0.3 t ha~(-1) urea and 50 t ha~(-1) `SWC` + 0 urea increased carrot yieldby 40% compared with the control treatment. The values of carrot yield components alsoincreased in response to the increased rate of combined SWC and urea fertilizerapplication. The results showed that the combined application of 30 t ha~(-1) `SWC` + 0.3 tha~(-1) urea and 50 t ha~(-1) `SWC` alone resulted in maximum carrot yield. Nitrogen, P, and Ksoil contents at the end of the research were 185%, 157% and 119%, respectively, of thepre-planting levels in plots where 50 t ha~(-1) `SWC` + 0.3 t ha~(-1) t/ ha urea fertilizer wasused.
