In this paper, the analysis of the induction generator connected to utility grid during grid separation is introduced. A simple equivalent circuit is proposed to represent the AC/DC/AC converter scheme and the grid as seen by the induction generator to simplify the analysis. The operating ranges of the output parameters of the induction generator as the capacitance and resistance at every speed of the self excited induction generator are discussed. As a conclusion, there is a maximum required load value for each wind speed must be loaded to force the induction generator to build its output voltage. This maximum required load is calculated for every wind speed. Also, the excitation capacitor must be adjusted below the minimum excitation capacitor at no load to save the generator life during grid separation.
