A New Option for Traveler Information Delivery: Hands-Free, Eyes-Free, Highway Advisory Smart Phone Application

The presentation will address the lessons learned from existing implementations of this geo-based technology, and how it can play a major role in the delivery of traveler information within urban or rural environments. Benefits to the geo-based approach include little or no infrastructure cost, a high level of traveler penetration, a simpler application than a traditional 511, the ability to expand into other 511-services, and at less cost to an agency. This is a Text to Voice system, hands free and eyes free app for smartphones.
