This paper compares the experimentally measured photometric properties of a conventional electroded MH lamp containing HgTlI with those obtained from a theoretical model for discharges sustained by a microwave (mw) electromagnetic field, so-called plasma lamps. Radial gas temperatures, luminous flux, luminous efficacy and CCT have been computed for microwave generated lamps and the results have been compared with those of the electroded lamp.
