Electric double layer capacitors mainly use activated carbons with a high specific surface area as electrode materials, which enhances efficiency use of the electrode surface [1]. Efforts are being made to develop new materials for capacitor electrodes and suitable electrolytes which should be characterized by a large capacitance, cyclic stability and lowcost [2-4]. One of the most popular methods of preparing carbon electrodes is the chemical method of KOH activation [5]. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of carbon precursor, from biopolymers such as chitosan, starch, cellulose or pectin, on capacitance properties of prepared electrodes and choose the most suitable electrolyte for prepared carbon materials.
