This paper presents an analysis about the impact of the inverter-based distributed generation on the fault location for distribution power systems. This work analyses the fault response in distributed generation and how it impacts in the fault location formulation. Additionally, it is presented an analysis of the electrical models of DG and its influence in the fault location performance. This study is performed in the IEEE 34 Node Test Feeder. The obtained results show that not consider the DG current contribution of the inverter or use inadequately the DG electrical model to determine its impact in the fault location affect strongly the fault location performance, since the fault distance computed depends of the estimation of DG current contribution in the fault point.
