A Study on the Methodology of Digital Modeling of Han-ok's Roof

摘要

A tiled-roof of Han-ok, Korean traditional house, has a complicated shape with curved lines and curved surfaces.At present,the modeling of Han-ok's tiled-roof is nothing more than unidimensional copy because the curved lines and curved surfaces of the Han-ok's roofs have been passed down from a master to another master in the field, without written rules.In this paper,thus, we examine the drawbacks of current modeling methods, suggesting a new modeling methodology to solve these problems.This methodology incorporates the actual construction principles of the tiled roofs by analyzing the construction process and automatizes the modeling process with parametric modeling technologies, so it has some merits such as free transformation and exact shape expression.
