Remote guidance systems have the potential to make lives of visually impaired people safer and easier. One of these systems is Brunel Remote Guidance System designed by the Center of Guidance System Research at Brunel University. This paper presents the results of a pilot study to improve the performance of the BRGS by selecting the optimum size for the guide terminal. The study undertook to establish the effects of variations in the terminal size on the performance of the human operator in recognising macro navigational errors in the visually impaired system user's journey. The performance was measured and compared in relation to four different size combinations of the main components of the guide terminal -- the video feed display and digital map. The pilot study results showed that the effects of the varied sizes on the sighted guide performance to recoginse the macro navigational errors are not statistically significant. However, this result might be affected by the number of the participation which was 20 participants as a pilot study.
