Urban furniture for Smartcity: Augmented reality and sustainability for public use

The public space and social relations have been deeply modified by the influence of new technologies and connectivity. In the context of the contemporary city, urban furniture as an ensemble of elements serving for the habitability of public space, is facing new demands and requirements. The most prevalent ones are the widespread use of real-time communication technologies and energy consumption. This paper presents the design of an urban booth of services and information. The proposal inquires into the implementation of new augmented reality technologies in a public use product designed as an environmental and attractive solution for the recent SmartCity. A symbiosis between technology and sustainability in an urban furniture.
