In order to meet the increasing energy demand in post-modern societies, overhead transmission lines (OHL) and pipeline networks are also growing rapidly. Due to geographical limitations, these networks are planned on common routes. This study examines the electromagnetic interferences of 400 kV and 170 kV overhead transmission lines and natural gas pipelines in the Agri-Horasan region in Turkey. The touch and step voltages caused by this interference are calculated under different shielding, tower ground resistance and soil resistance conditions and compared with each other. It is observed that the induced voltages can be reduced from 16.9% to 59.7% using the ground cable and ground grid shielding method. Similarly, when the tower ground resistance is selected as 5 ohms instead of 15 ohms, the touch and step voltages can be reduced by 49.87% and 62.74%, respectively. These results offer alternative solutions in the intersection areas where security problems are experienced and allow the system to be designed within the safety limits.
