Complete nucleotide sequence analysis of tolC gene from actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae

To provide some insights into the understanding of the biological functions of tolC gene and its encoding protein in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, multiple bioinformatics tools were employed to analyze the complete sequence of tolC gene and physicochemical properties, structure and functions of TolC protein of A. pleuropneumoniae. The results showed that tolC gene is a single open reading frame with 1395 bp in length, which was constitutive of 448 adenines, 390 thymines, 267 cytosines, 290 guanines and GC content 39.9%. TolC protein was constitutive of 464 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 51409.69 Da and the following properties: an α type protein, located in the outermembrane, no transmembrane helix, one signal peptide cleavage site, numerous functional sites and antigenic determinants. All these results will be of great help for further studies on uncovering the functions and pathogenic mechanism of the protein.
