In this paper the unconventional measurement technique, 'resistance controlled mode', which consists in driving the sensor heater in order to maintain constant the sensing-film resistance, and reading as a sensor output the temperature of the film, is applied to the detection of NO_2 gas with YCoO_3 based resistive gas sensors. The technique is discussed and its results are compared to those obtained with conventional measurements of resistance at constant temperature, showing that it has similar performance in terms of resolution and better in terms of speed.
